Nasira, meaning ‘support’ in Arabic, was given her name based on the way the forms within the piece anchor one another. In times of challenge, we can feel like islands. But this sense of isolation is only perceived. If we use nature as a template for contemplation, there are many examples to show us how support systems are woven within it, including within our own bodies. Each part of our being is interdependent upon the other. There is a balance at play of give and take, ultimately supporting life.
My intention is for the Nasira Earrings to serve as a reminder of the law of reciprocity: to give when needed and receive with gratitude. We get the most out of the support systems we nurture.
