THE STORY BEHIND: THE YVONNE RING
Last week I introduced the new: Yvonne Ring. Today I want to introduce you to the special woman it was named after. Norma Yvonne is the dear grandmother of Mahnal customer, Lyvonne. After sending out an email asking for inspiration naming this new ring, many responded but Lyvonne's story warmed my heart.
Lyvonne, now 36, is the same age Norma Yvonne was when she transitioned due to breast cancer. Lyvonne shares that she has come to realize her own place in ending intergenerational trauma and fostering intergenerational healing. In Lyvonne's own words:
.
.
“The stacked ring speaks to our connectedness to our ancestors (and those to come) through generations, time, and space; as well as our need to be ‘stacked together’ as daughters of be African Diaspora; and our obligation to be ‘stacked together’ with our Creator and our highest Selves.” |
Each jewelry piece I create, I try to associate with it aspirational characteristics. What better way to celebrate the life of Norma Yvonne, who was described as gentle, sweet, kind & caring. Lyvonne and several of her family members now own this ring as they remember Norma Yvonne's life & legacy before her passing, only 3 days prior to today's date, 40 years ago.
Through this ring, I then pass to you a symbol in honoring the legacy of all the women we descend from and the memories that keep them alive. 💞
